A fabulous time was had in the South of France, cooking and exploring the area around Grimaud and Cogolin. The local food was delicious with sweet ripe figs and wonderful pungent cheeses, shopping locally at the markets was great fun as we prepared to cater for a party of guests staying just outside Cogolin, it was fascinating to see the local foods change as you move to a different area, sometimes only a matter of miles but their pride in their food and the quality is all there. We found the most amazing wedding venue property, Chateau Saint-Maur Cru Classe, stunningly beautiful place and the most incredible Rose wine. The setting is perfect for a South of France wedding that could be combined with a holiday and a visit of the local area and other vineyards. [/two_third]
Roger Zannier, the owner, took up the challenge of turning the Chateau Saint-Maur into one of the finest references in Provence; he had already made his debut as a winemaker in the Douro valley at the Quinta do Pessegueriro. Situated in Cogolin, in the heart of an ever so beautiful natural setting, the Chateau Saint-Maur, Cru Classe, is steeped in history of Provence and its wines. Just 10km from Saint Tropez, the west of the plain that links the foothills of the impressive Maures mountain mass to the sea, the estate boasts a splendid building erected at the end of the 19th century that evokes Moorish Spain, on elements dating from the 18th Century. We had a fabulous visit there, sampling the wine and looking over the building as ideas grew for a venue for us to use in France, coupled with the fantastic local produce at hand, be it seafood, vegetables or meat it really makes up for the most perfect food in the most perfect setting.
