Holham Hall, Norfolk selects Purple Plum Catering as preferred catering supplier

One of the most illustrious names in Norfolk catering selects Purple Plum as preferred supplier

Fantastic news in the developing business of Purple Plum – we can announce the preferred catering supplier contract for Holkham Hall.  Holkham Hall is an 18th-century stately home located adjacent to the village of Holkham, on the North coast of the English county of Norfolk and is a stunning venue.

I was incredibly flattered to be asked, it is a stunningly beautiful place to have a wedding, the team there are fantastic and they make the day run smoothly and hassle free. We have worked closely with them to come up with some fabulous new menus to complement the day and to source and use local produce. I already have bookings for Holkham Hall and cannot wait to start this year.  They have great plans for the Hall and I am looking forward to seeing the venue grow and develop over the next few years.

Catering Entrepreneurship at Sewell Park, School.

We had a wonderful day with the sixth form students taking part in an entrepreneur day with business mentoring. The students presented us with some fantastic business ideas, including a ‘nose warmer’ which was very interesting! Fantastic food ideas too and it was great to see their confidence grow as they presented and asked questions on cash flow, growth and planning. We have kept in contact and I look forward to seeing how they do in their exams and hopefully to take part in another entrepreneur day with the next year of sixth formers.

Featured catering business in the Golden Guide.

I had a very productive meeting with Sophie at the Golden Guide, based in Norwich. It’s a very informative monthly magazine with information and articles on local businesses. Sophie wrote a terrific piece on Purple Plum Catering, especially covering the gluten free and wheat free aspect of the business and we have had many enquires since. Small ceremonies have started to get booked in and local companies wanting their events catered for by us.

Norfolk Networking Event

The monthly event at the Forum with NorfolkNetworking is a great opportunity event to meet new businesses and to sample the food that we supply. Lucy brings together an exciting evening with new speakers at each event and really makes it an occasion that you want to attend. There are some incredible speakers booked in for the end of the year.

New Refrigerated Van

With the new contracts coming in from corporate businesses and continued expansion into ceremonies and celebrations, we felt it was the right time to splash out on a new refrigerated van! It took a while to find but has been a terrific addition to the business. We carried out three functions in one day and it really was truly invaluable.

Purple Plum European Catering Tour

The last month has seen us on jaunts to France and to Spain to search out new suppliers and venues. The South of France was beautiful and we had a great time on a private dinning job near St Tropez then onto some fabulous vineyards where we set up a contract for supplying their local Rose and to use the building as a wedding venue.

Just arrived back from a trip to Spain, was another fantastic trip with food sourcing in Murcia for some Iberico ham and some incredible venues. We will be back next year to cater the wedding for a local couple, thinking up ideas for the menu already! The local markets are a rich source for fruit, vegetables and fish. Meeting up with local chefs has been wonderfully informative, a great way of learning about different cooking methods and use of produce.

Another trip that has been booked in for September is in Portugal, staying at the fantastic Conrad Hilton, we will be sampling the delights of the local produce and looking for wedding venues and suppliers.

On top of all this, Quinta do Lago remains unspoilt, with its golden sandy beaches and the beauty of Ria Formosa Park on your doorstep. The wildlife reserve is home to a range of bird species, some of them endangered, and is one of the natural wonders of Portugal.
